Mountain Bike Trails

So many customers of Scottish Tourer want to embrace the outdoors and get away from the mundane routines of daily life. Scotland has some utterly amazing places to cycle and for those who want a bit more of an adrenaline rush they don’t have to look very far to find some fantastic days out. We have several motorhomes with larger garages for extra equipment and all our motorhomes have bike racks located on the back. If you are worried about safety of your bikes please discuss this with us for any extra information we can give you.

Where could we go?

  • Comrie croft is just outside Crieff which is a short drive from our depot in Perth. You can hire bikes here if you don’t have your own and they have an excellent selection. They also have a shop should you forget or need anything while you are there. They have a café open during peak times and a smaller café during the quieter months, both serve excellent food and drinks at fantastic prices. Here you will find a fantastic skills track at the bottom by the carpark which is great for smaller children and adults alike to refine your skills. There is a few very small tracks for small children and then building up to some bigger runs. As you head up the hill there is a selection of easier runs and then onto harder ones depending on your experience. It makes for a wonderful day out for the whole family. There are plenty of places that pedestrians can walk to watch parts of the trails and its all very well signposted.  The carpark is larger however it can get busy so try to park so you know you can get out especially if you are in a larger motorhome.

  • Ballo woods located towards Dundee is another great place for those looking to get out and gain their adrenaline rush. These routes are not so child friendly as it is pretty steep in parts and the trails can be rutty and difficult to navigate especially if there has been high winds or rain they are mainly black routes and are technical. There are lots of lovely walks here to enjoy however and a loch to wander round should you decide to separate what you do that day.
  • Pitmedden Forest in Fife is another fantastic place to get your miles in whether that be on foot or two wheels. This area is vast and has trails for all abilities and levels throughout the forests on mainly gravel tracks. There are two main carparks located either at Glenfoot or at Auchtermuchty in any of the laybys. The only top tip here is there are often lots of walkers so be careful on blind corners and when you are going downhill at top speed.
  • Glentress Mountain Biking Trails | Trailforks has lots of information on all the trails located near Peebles. The track here has some local shops which do hire bikes if you need one prior to going on your adventure.  There are all options here for all abilities from beginner to advanced. There is also a smaller skills track here to for the kids or adults refining their skills before heading up the hill. There is a café located here to for a pit stop, lunch or just a well earned rest. There is also ample parking located here just ensure you are parked so you can get out if its busy.
  •  Innerleithen (adrenalinuplift.co.uk) trials is a simply amazing ride back down. There are shuttle buses from Adrenaline uplift which run regularly making it some of the very best downhill and endurance riding in the UK. There are some 200 to choose from so you will not be short of some to test out. You are recommended to pre book your shuttle tickets up the hill to ensure your not disappointed. There are many local riders there who are always happy to share advice or even ride down with you.
  • Laggan Wolftrax located near Fort William has all you need to get your bike fix whilst on holiday. The trails are open all year but may be subject to closure due to weather/ storms ect. The carpark has a small fee which is used to help maintain the tracks so if you want to continue to enjoy them please ensure you pay them. There is a café, toielts, showers and the Laggan Trust Office located here for any information you need. There is also a bike hire shop however this is only open at certain times of the year, be sure to check there page if you need to hire a bike. Mountain biking at Laggan Wolftrax (lagganforest.com)
