A Campervan Holiday on the West Coast of Scotland

The west coast is host to some wonderful eateries, friendly locals, endless walks and offers a chance to relax, enjoy and unwind with those you are within the luxury of a 5 star campervan. Places not to be missed on the West Coast Route

• Blair Castle is one of the best preserved castles of its time. It provides a wonderful history of Scotland, has some beautiful woodland and fine dining. The children will enjoy the lovely playparks located in the grounds and the adults can read and view the preserved history followed by a hot coffee.  Not far from Blair Atholl is the house of bruar. Here you will find a wonderful foodhall stocked with local produce and some fantastic Scottish wear. 
• Aviemore provides an array of activities and opportunities for a campervan holiday. There really is something for everyone here. You can wild camp by the shores of Loch Morlich and wake up to the gentle splash of the water. There is also an opportunity to hop of the steam train and take a trip down an old unused railway now. You can choose to dine first class here and the afternoon tea is utterly divine. Depending when you visit you can enjoy lunch in the highest café in Scotland at the top of the funicular railway. Here you really will see some spectacular views. 
• A BBQ in the campervan is not to be missed. So while you are on your way round stop off at the Butchers at Ullapool harbour for some beautiful steaks. They also sell freshly caught seafood which we are happy to share our recipes for.  Broomfield holiday park is a lovely campsite to stop in at where you can see the ferries coming and going form the comfort of your campervan. 

• As you head down the west coast route to Loch Maree you will find several wild camp spots which you will find relaxing yet full of atmosphere. They are much more peaceful than the shores of Loch ness which sadly is now very busy with tourists and is often labelled as tacky. 
• Applecross is a quaint little village that you follow an unmarked road to reach. The drive is one you will not forget. The first few miles are very steep and has lots of sharp blind corners. Take your time, enjoy the view and make sure you have a camera handy, you will be hard pushed to find these views anywhere else. The applecross in provides live music, food and drink that you will thoroughly enjoy. The fisherman catch the menu fresh most days and so is subject to season and what they have managed to catch that day. 
• The Isle of Skye although remote is now easily connected b y a bridge. Here you will find some lovely pub food and plenty of walks to clear your head. Ensure you make a trip to the fairy pools which are stunning, if your brave enough why not take a dip in the icy waters.  The Tallisker whiskey tour is worth a visit but children are not permitted. However if you have children in your party Dunvegan Castle is a day trip to make. With is extensive history and being the oldest continually inhabited castle in Scotland. 
• The Beachside campsite at Arisaig is recommended as it is immaculate and modern with under floor heating in the toilets. There is even authentic Thai food cooked by a lovely lady in her cottage just a short walk from the campsite. You may even catch a glimpse of some Minke whales or dolphins so be quick with your camera. 

• Made popular by the Harry Potter books and films the Glenfinnan viaduct is an astounding piece of structural work and is still in use today by the Jacobite steam train. This takes you on an 84 mile trip with an array of wonderful views. 
• Lochilphead provides wonderful food and wild camping for anyone in a campervan. We have these marked on our wild camping guide so check out which one may suit you best. The George Hotel serves exceptional steak and seafood.
