What To Pack On A Motorhome Holiday

What To Pack On A Motorhome Holiday

by Scottish Tourer February 28, 2025

•    Parts of a holiday need to be planned, but more often or not the spontaneous side of a holiday can be the fun part. Our advice would be to plan for the activities you may do such as beach trips, swimming, hill walking so you have the right clothing and footwear.  We find a handy list of what you will need for clothing as  over packing clothing is not only bulky, it can then be hard to find what you need.Packing for activities if you know you are going to do them but trying not to pack for the multiple what ifs. We have found this tends to result in a lot of bulky items that actually just get in the way.
All our motorhome have garages as pictured below, they are all different sizes and ensure you acquaint yourself with what’s already in there.

•    Ensure you know what included in your package so we do not provide bedding as standard and this needs to be booked separately. We can provide things like golf clubs, bikes and other items on request but these are subject to availability and do incur an additional cost. The motorhomes have heating so we have learnt over the years you do not need multiple layers of bedding or blankets as these again can be bulky and get in the way. Even in winter we haven’t been cold in the motorhome.
•    Ask any questions about working any of the appliances you are not sure about before you leave the depot. You can however refer to the video we send out prior to your arrival nad we have a folder of handy information but sometimes its easier to see it working in person than from a book. We are happy to answer any questions before you leave, this includes checking how to empty the toilet, fuel, water and top up the gas when required.
•    The kitchen area is equipped with pots, frying pan, a kettle, cutlery, dinner and side plates, cups, glasses, wine glasses. There will also be a washing up liquid and a dish sponge, cleaning spray and a cloth and tea towels. There are also hangers and a toulet paper and enough of chemicals for the toilet casette for the trip.
•    Plan a vague route so you know at least where you are staying your first night. This can help just so you get settled in and have looked at what road to take. We often have a vague area of where we are going, we have lots of routes on our website so please feel free to look through these prior to planning your route.
•    Kids toys, speaking from experience we tend to avoid toys with lots of little bits as they often get lost down little nooks and cant be located again. We tend to go for card games, vehicles that can be played with on sand, dirt , grass anywhere really and smaller toys so your not falling over them. I always pack a pair of sliders or crocs for the motor home and that way it reduces the amount of dirt that enters the motorhome when your away.
•    Food shopping, pack little and often would be our advice the fridges are fantastic but they are not like a home fridge and do not appreciate being over filled. There are always shops that sell your essentials that you can top up with along the way and it also gives you an opportunity to sample local produce along the way.

We have several blogs that give some top tips about heading away on your holiday so please feel free to browse them. We have top tips for reversing a motorhome and what route to pick, this will ultimately depend on your and your party as to how far , what your wish to see and how long you are heading off for. Please do not hesitate to get in touch to book your next holiday with Scottish Tourer.
